Coulson’s successful night fire suppression program

Coulson Aviation began a successful Night Fire Suppression Trial Program in partnership with Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) and the Victorian Government in 2016 using multi-function Sikorksy S-61 helicopters and an S-76 aerial attack supervision and intelligence gathering platform. A key component of the successful program was the development and implementation of a helicopter with the capability to hover-fill from open water sources using best practice procedures. Coulson Aviation has continued this work with its fleet of Chinook and Sikorsky helicopters. Its Chinook CH-47, Sikorsky S-61, S-76, and UH-60 helicopter are currently contracted in California to carry out night time fire operations.
