Hey there mighty navigators,
It’s hard to believe, we know. But after 30 years of keeping secrets in NavShield HQ, we’ve decided to break with tradition and share the exciting news of this year’s location… early.
There’s lots of good reasons to share this info now, the most important of which is making it easy for participants to plan their travel and logistics to one of NSW’s most diverse and stunning natural areas.
Our wonderful Nav-Angels have been out since Easter, not hiding chocolate eggs, but setting the 2019 NavShield course in what promises to be one of our most talked about locations yet. They’re returning with stories of classic sub-alpine eucalypt forest and the magic words every NavShield-er wants to hear… ‘relatively clear, great walking’.
Although we can’t reveal the exact location of Base just yet, we can tell you that within the wonders of Kanangra-Boyd’s 68,660 hectares of World Heritage National Park, we’ll only be using about 8,000 hectares of it. Which means, if you think you know where Australia’s Premiere wilderness navigation event will be… you might need to think again.
When will registrations open?
We’re still making a few tweaks behind the scenes, so keep your eye on the SES Bush Search and Rescue Facebook Page towards the end of next week for when the registration page goes live.
Where can I get more details?
Draft details are currently available on the NavShield registration page, which will be finalised in the coming days. In the meantime, last year’s information is there as a guide.
Can Bushwalking Clubs participate?
Yes. There will be a Bushwalking Club division.
Is now the time to get my team sorted?
Absolutely. 100%. Yes.
Stay tuned for more details to come!
Cheers
The NavShield Team
