On the 18 November 2015, The Hon Robert Brown directed the following question to The Hon Duncan Gay:
Question – The Hon. Robert Brown:
My question is directed to the Hon. Duncan Gay, representing the Premier. Will the Premier guarantee that a Government response will be forthcoming to the General Purpose Standing Committee No. 5 inquiry into the Wambelong fire before Christmas given that the fire occurred in January 2013?
Reply – The Hon. Duncan Gay:
I understand the urgency with which the Hon. Robert Brown asks that question. Obviously I cannot give a guarantee on whether there will be a response before Christmas but I can give a guarantee that I will refer that matter to the Premier to get a response as soon as possible.
The Wambelong fire started on the 12th January 2013 (nearly three years ago), the public has been watching as:
- The Government collected submissions
- The NSW Upper House, conducted an inquiry
- The NSW Upper House inquiry made 29 recommendations
- The NSW Deputy State Coroner made recommendations to the Minister for Emergency Services
We are now waiting for a response from the NSW State Government…..
