Winners All-Round
Henty 2018, has been a winner all-round with some great opportunities to meet with Rural Fire Service Volunteers, talk to the public and continue to build our strength as an association that represents a large number of volunteer firefighters across NSW.
A big thank you to the VFFA volunteers who set up the Henty 2018 VFFA site.
Another Winner
Another potential winner is the environment, as the VFFA continues to promote the advantages of cultural and ecological burning practices.
The VFFA Henty site was visited by Denise Ezzy of the Wiradjuri People. Denise signed our Petition and voiced her support for the NSW RFS Head Office to be relocated to country NSW rather than in the Sydney Basin. We discussed our campaign to return to Indigenous burning practices and Denise fully supported this goal. She offered her opinions which made sense and included such things as sacred women’s sites and the fact that the Firestick campaign also offered Koori youth the chance to help protect and learn about the environment and their ‘country’.
