An indepth study by John O’Donnell looks back on all the major house and structure losses associated with major fires and distills the recommendations from these fires into 24 key principles in regards to town and city bushfire protection.
The work references the development of Fire Adapted Communities in the USA as a comprehensive and cohesive approach. It examines all the major enquiries and reports following bushfires over the years and it contains extensive material in its appendices.
It appears that most enquiries publish similar findings which are rarely implemented in full and then after a few years history repeats itself.
